Community Service Projects
The MOMS Club® of Seattle-NW takes great pride in being able to host several community service projects each year. Our largest community service project is our Preschool Fair. All proceeds of this event are donated to local charities voted on by our members. In addition, we undertake several additional community service projects. Our main focus is to aid mothers and children in our local area.

Food Bank Drive
One of the ways we give back to the community is by collecting food, diapers, and other essential items for our local food banks. In December 2010 and 2011 our donations went to the Greenwood Food Bank, operated by the Volunteers of America, which distributes these items to nearly 2,000 individuals each week, fifty percent of whom are children and seniors. Several of our members and their kids took a tour of the facility and helped stock the shelves. March of Dimes March for Babies
One of our ways we contributed back to the community this past year was by participating in the March of Dimes. Our small (but mighty!) group raised over $1000 in support of healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. In addition to the walk, we got a group together to attend a Mariners game where our ticket proceeds also went to the March of Dimes organization. Last years events went so well that we plan to make this an annual thing! We are working now on putting together a team for this year’s march on April 30th.
The MOMS Club® of Seattle-NW hosts a Preschool Fair each year in January. In January 2011 we had representatives from 38 Preschools and the event was attended by more than 200 families, we raised over $700 for charity. Our objective is to provide parents with the opportunity to meet with representatives from several northwest Seattle neighborhood preschools and to assess how their programs meet the needs of their child. Representatives from the preschools will be available to answer questions and provide information about their schools. Every summer we host a back-to-school drive to support Treehouse for Kids, a non-profit organization that provides new clothing, backpacks, school supplies, and other essential items for local foster children. Treehouse volunteers bring our donations to the Treehouse Wearhouse, where kids get to “shop” for a new outfit and other items at the beginning of the school year. Treehouse provides an important service by supplementing the small amount of money foster parents receive from the state to buy clothing for growing kids.
